As a high church Anglican and an evangelical Christian, Wesley’s full understanding of justification is more complex than is normally explained. While many studies focus solely on Wesley’s evangelical perspective of the doctrine, my comprehensive study shows that Wesley taught there are five degrees of justification:
- Measure of acceptance for responsive unregenerate
- Sacramental justification for baptized infants
- Measure of acceptance for faith of a servant
- Present/evangelical justification for born-again believers
- Final justification at the Last Judgment
