In this informative interview Logan and I discuss my new book John Wesley’s Doctrine of Justification (Abingdon Press, 2023).
We talk about Wesley’s life and several aspects of Wesley’s teachings on justification, including his inclusive emphasis. I explain the historical background and how his beliefs on justification developed over the course of his life.
We also discuss several aspects of Wesley’s doctrine — unevangelized, sacramental, evangelical, anonymous believer, and final judgment. As I discuss in the book, Wesley’s unique contribution to Christian theology on the subject is his concept of degrees of justification.
