John Wesley’s evangelical conversion at a religious meeting on Aldersgate Street, London, on May 24, 1738, remains the most famous event of his long life and ministry. In church history, Aldersgate ranks with other famous conversion narratives. In this lecture Dr. Olson discusses the impact and influence that this single event had on Wesley’s spiritual formation, including his theology and career as a founder of the Methodist movement. We will learn how a single “God-moment” can change the course of human history and in profound ways shape the character and destiny of Christian believers in our world today.
